Karstens Public House

Karstens Public House is part of a larger new-construction development called Denali Square that includes a restaurant, retail and performance spaces. It is located at the Holland America Line resort, McKinley Chalets, outside of Denali National Park in Alaska. The restaurant is named after one of the first ascenders of Denali, Harry Karstens, and features imagery from his life as a mountaineer and time as first superintendent of Denali National Park. The restaurant centers around a coffee shop that doubles as a grab and go market throughout the day. Two large fireplaces anchor the dining rooms at either end of the restaurant while a large bar flanks the market to the south. Open from dawn till late, Karstens Public House is a hub in the middle of a large resort where tourists visit from May through September to sightsee around one of America’s most beloved National Parks.
