Southern Reach
Overlooking a significant lake on the South Island of New Zealand, the Southern Reach Residence is laid-out to capture monumental views in all directions. The building is comprised of three pitched-roof living pavilions clad in wood, connected to each other by a gallery space, sitting atop a stone base enclosing garage and services. The house embodies the concept of prospect and refuge. Movement through the spaces always lead to natural light and major views. The form is quiet and the palette is simple. Quality of execution and connection to the landscape over architectural complexity.
