Suncadia
Hired to re-envision the public areas of Suncadia Lodge, the design team was laser-focused on creating an authentic sense of place - reflective of the natural environment and cultural history of the Roslyn/Cle Elum area. The design solution leans heavily on natural materials sourced locally, pulls color from nature surrounding the lodge, utilizes details evocative of the region’s mining history, and embraces expansive views above all. Windows have been enlarged, the bar flipped to utilize the mountains as a backdrop, and seating throughout the lobby, bar and dining room carefully considered for comfort and orientation relative to views and architectural features. The bar and lobby are now one space, energizing both while increasing capacity as well as comfort. Supporting elements such as fine art and décor will consist of custom commissions by local artists, and the many custom furniture and casework elements will be sourced from local artisans and fabricators. Taken together the renovated lodge spaces will convey not only a strong sense of place but also a strong sense of comfort and casual luxury through richness of material, a care in craft and a thoughtfulness in detail.
